This is not going to be a particularly long or involved post, but I wanted to get this out here. This is something I posted on my Facebook earlier today, and I wanted to share it on the blog as well:
Just because I resemble the Venus of Willendorf more than today’s supermodels does not mean I am not beautiful. Nor does it mean I am unhealthy. I try to exercise at least 30 minutes everyday. I love to go for runs. I eat vegetables like it is my job. I rarely eat sugary foods due to my hypoglycemic symptoms. I realize food is the way I get my energy and I eat regularly. Being skinny does not always equal being healthy. Being of a larger frame or “fat” does not always equal unhealthy. Being a big girl is okay as long as you are taking care of yourself. Being a thin girl is okay as long as you are taking care of yourself. Sure, real women have curves…but real women are also thin, round, tall, short, have imperfections and want to feel beautiful. Wherever you are on that list, know that you are beautiful and amazing. Don’t let our twisted society control your self-worth.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. – Psalm 139:14
